During the year of incorporation of this company, there were adverse conditions for agriculture affecting economy and progress. The situation in Kerala was worse, farmers was not getting reasonable return on their agriculture produce, so were forced to commit suicide. When Rubber, Coconut, Areca nut like main agriculture produce of this state were not becoming lucrative to farmers, this company decided to step into their rescue. The said three items in India are mainly cultivated in Kerala, but there were less factories here to process for their value addition. Under this circumstances, Coconut being the main produce as well being a cultural part of this state; it was decided to establish a coconut processing factory named KARSHAKABANDHU COCONUT PRODUCTS at Kolathur an agricultural village in Kasargode district, foundation stone of this factory was laid by the then MLA Shri P Raghavan in 1999. Factory was inaugurated on 15 th Mar 2001 by then H’ble minister for Agriculture, Govt of Kerala, Shri Krishnan Kaniyamparambil.
There are a number of farmers engaged in cattle, poultry farming. Of late farmers are preferring to use organic fertilizers to chemical fertilizers, main organic fertilizer locally available being cow dung, for which farmers are to have more cows, naturally milk availability increases .There being more Milk Co-operative Societies in the districts problem of selling is no more .This is encouraging for cattle farming .Required quantity of cattle feeds are mainly imported from other districts or states. No cattle feed producing factory is available in Kannur or Kasergode districts. Therefore, Karshakabandhu Agri-tech(India) Limited decided to open its 2 nd unit factory for production of cattle feed. On 12 th Feb 2005, foundation stone for the said factory was laid by then H’ble minister for Irrigation, Govt of Kerala, Shri Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan, and inauguration of the factory was done on 22 nd Aug 2008 by the then H’ble minister for Industries, Govt of Kerala, Shri Elamaram Kareem, Shri C .T.Ahmed Ali MLA made the inaugural sale of company’s cattle feed. Potential for poultry feed was realized, and with no extra investment, poultry feed is also produced here and is marketed.
